Ballina Shire Council is seeking feedback from locals and visitors on their usage of the coastal paths and Aboriginal Cultural Ways signage that is installed along sections of this path.
In 2017 Ballina Shire Council installed a series of 22 interpretive signs that recognise the Aboriginal cultural heritage values along the Ballina coastline.
The signage is installed between Angels Beach to Sharpes Beach in East Ballina, along the Coastal Recreation Path that traverses the Declared East Ballina Aboriginal Place.
The project was a collaboration between Ballina Shire Council and Ballina Shire’s Aboriginal community, and is referred to as Aboriginal Cultural Ways.
Stage two of Aboriginal Cultural Ways is in progress and due for completion in the coming months. Stage two will extend interpretive elements along the Coastal Walk from Sharpes Beach north to the lookout at Lennox Head.
This extension provides information about the significance of Aboriginal cultural heritage relevant to this section of the coast.
Ballina Shire Council is very keen to hear about your interest in, or experience of, Ballina’s coastal paths and walks. We want to hear from everyone including visitors and locals who haven’t yet walked or cycled these paths,” says Council’s Team Leader Visitor Services, Alicia Wallace
It’s simple to participate and by completing the survey, participants will go in the draw to win a $250 experience gift voucher.
