Tourism Australia (TA) has announced adopting a dual-naming approach for capital cities and other specific locations around Australia by using the known Aboriginal name alongside the English name.
As Aboriginal and dual naming becomes more commonly used in Australia, it not only acknowledges the traditional owners of the land we live, work and travel on, but seeks to incorporate 60,000 years of Indigenous custodianship, language, and knowledge into the mainstream consciousness.
