Lismore Rainforest Botanic Gardens
Details
The Lismore Rainforest Botanic Gardens is an ongoing community project located on Widjabul country, just 3 kilometers south of Lismore’s CBD in New South Wales, Australia.
Dedicated volunteers are gradually transforming a reclaimed waste site and degraded bushland into a beautiful rainforest environment for everyone to enjoy. These gardens showcase native rainforest species from the local area.
Unlike traditional manicured gardens, this botanic garden primarily features local native plants, with prunings, mulch, and natural ground covers sustaining a collection of healthy, beautiful flora. It’s a wonderful place to explore, with colorful information signs, individual tree labels, paths, picnic areas, and even a cool cubby and solar clock for visitors to enjoy.
If you’re interested in supporting the gardens, consider becoming a Friend of Lismore Rainforest Botanic Gardens—they welcome volunteers and offer memberships for just $10 per year.
