A visit to Minyon Falls is a must do when staying at Ballina Coast and Hinterland. Enjoy the scenic 40 minute drive to the Nightcap National Park via Federal to Minyon Falls. Image: Ryan Wells (@r_welz_photo)Minyon Falls are the largest falls in the Northern Rivers, with a plunging waterfall that descends more than 100 metres. The Minyon Falls picnic area is situated on Minyon Drive above Minyon Falls. On clear days there are views to the ocean from the waterfall's edge, which is accessed from a wheelchair accessible platform.
There are a range of short to medium tracks for the experienced walker. The Minyon Loop is a 7.5 kilometre walk that is moderate to hard, allow 4 to 5 hours to complete this walk. Beginning at either Minyon Grass picnic area or Minyon Falls picnic areas this walk takes visitors through changing vegetation to the base of the falls past a large unlogged Brushbox stand and along the escarpment edge.
For visitors wishing to walk only to the base of Minyon Falls the walk begins at Minyon Grass and is a 4 kilometre return walk taking around 2 hours to complete. Both walks have a steep climb out.

All picnic areas have barbeques, toilets and picnic tables with shelters and information. Camping iwithin the National Park forest is available at Rummery Park. A short walk up Boggy Creek from the camp area leads to Minyon Falls. Fees apply through National Parks.
If you are wanting to visit more waterfalls, you will find Protestor Falls at Terania Creek. This is located at the western side of the Nightcap National Park via The Channon and Terenia Creek Road. This 14 kilometre stretch of winding, dirt road leads to the Terania Creek picnic area and an easy walking track (1.4 kilometres return) through Bangalow Palms to the base of the falls. Swimming is not permitted in the area as it is home to the endangered Fleay's Barred Frog.
